Introdution

I fear that by indulging in this bloggery, I have surrendered my right to consider Emily Dickinson's "I'm Nobody, Who are You?" one of my favorite poems.

First Post, I suppose it's introduction time. My name is [REDACTED], also known as PolyesterSpectre, and it is my sad duty to inform you that this galloping disaster is my blog. I have a good twelve minutes' experience with bloggetry.
Recurring topics are likely to include, but not be limited to, news; language; Atheism/Religion; Feminism; politics; writing; history, especially the correction and mockery of historical misconceptions and "common knowledge;" books; mockery of Teabaggers, Fox News, the Daily Mail, and their ilk; a rare commentary on noteworthy events at work; comics; my justified outrage at BBC America's refusal to import 'QI;' and, when things get too bleak, amusingly captioned pictures of cats.
Swearing is permitted; creative swearing encouraged.

Note: lest any readers be left wondering why, despite my gratingly pretentious writing, I never spell "Dirty Commy Basturd" correctly, please know that the term was originally a grammatically challenged young man's attempt at insulting me on the internets. I know that it's really spelled durty commie basterd.

There will be a few more posts over the next day or two, I suspect, and it is almost conceivable that I may actually make a regular thing of this.
